In this second part of the two part series of fire forming for the 300 PRC, we’ll look at taking high-quality 8x68S brass (RWS brand) and prepping/fire forming it for use in the 300 PRC. The video goes through:

  • Initial neck/shoulder sizing using a full-length bushing die.
  • Reaming out the neck with a Forster Trimmer and .308 reamer attachment.
  • Trimming and prep
  • Fire forming at the range.

In the video I mention that this web site contains what I use for a fire forming load for the 300 PRC.

Okay, with that out of the way, I’ve found that using 68 grains of H1000 powder, and CCI BR-2 primers paired with a 200 grain bullet touching the lands yields good results. I have yet to split or damage a case, and I get very accurate results… with the final cases AND the fire forming ammo – yes, the fire forming ammo is as/more accurate than shooting the only currently available factory brass.
